As many of you know, I have been working for some time on the official revision to the FACS manual. I have been working on this revision along with my former student and current colleague, Thomas Terkildsen. In addition to several text revisions and AU updates, a major focus of the revised manual is to update the images and videos for coding. Those of you who have worked with the FACS manual know that it is rich with information, but the images and videos lack diversity and the videos, given their age, are of poor quality and resolution. To get this manual to reflect a wide range of human faces we are crowdsourcing the images. This is where you come in. This is an opportunity for anyone to upload a facial expression to be used in the new manual. You do not need to know FACS to participate here – we just need images of real live human facial expressions. All contributors will be acknowledged in the new edition, whether or not your image appears in the final version.

It is really easy to help out – all you need is a face and a phone camera! To contribute your facial expression(s) to the FACS manual, please complete this form to begin the process.
